On Course to Success

July 8, 2004 was a busy day for the Canadian Spinal Research Organization. We were involved in two golf tournaments: the 2004 Fury Golf Classic and our own annual CSRO golf tournament. Both tournaments were held at the beautiful Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple, Ontario and both were an astounding success raising thousands of dollars for the CSRO and spinal cord injury research.

FURY

Over 100 golfers participated in the 2004 Fury Golf Classic in support of the CSRO’s Shoot For A Cure – Hockey campaign. Golfers had to be up at the crack of dawn for the 6:45 a.m. registration but the tournament was more than worth the early start. Those attending the event had the opportunity to meet past and present NHL hockey players Keith Primeau, Brad May, Jason Ward, Sean Avery, Nick Boynton, Brian Conacher, Rene Robert, Pat Flatley, Gary Leeman and Rick Vaive. After a great game of golf, participants assembled at the clubhouse for lunch and a live auction. Items auctioned off included a Heritage classic Wayne Gretzky framed photograph and a Bermin custom made pool table. The day was a huge success and the CSRO would like to thank 55 Hockey Products Inc. and its Fury hockey line for hosting the event. We would also like to extend our gratitude to our corporate sponsors and the golfers who attended the tournament. Your generosity has helped us come even closer to finding a cure for paralysis.

CSRO

After the participants in the 2004 Fury Golf Classic finished up their round of golf, it was time to kick off the 8 th Annual CSRO golf tournament. Participants first enjoyed a barbeque lunch before heading off to play golf at 12:30. After golfing, individuals attended a reception sponsored by Labatt Canada. At the reception, Don Landry from the FAN 590, hosted a live auction and a raffle draw. There were was also a silent auction where individuals could bind on some rare hockey and sports memorabilia. The CSRO wishes to thank Therapy Supplies and Rental’s Limited for helping us organize the event. We also wish to think all the participants and our corporate sponsors for their ongoing commitment to our annual golf tournament. Your support has made the event bigger and better every year and we hope to see you out again next year!
